The Weekly Clothesline: He lives!

Posted

The horror of Holy Week is over. A new day has dawned! Jesus lives! These two little words mean the difference between eternal life and eternal death, heaven and hell, blessings and curses. We live because He lives.

This past week is the culmination of everything we believe. We watched an innocent man experience the evils of the world…and all for the love of us, to free us from eternal death. Amazing love, how can it be that the Son of God would die for me, as the song says. I try to understand it from a human point of view, and I just can’t. While I think I love my children, could I love them enough to die for them? I wonder…. And to die the kind of death he endured…I wonder.

But the gift of grace means I don’t have to understand it; I just have to accept it. And in thanksgiving, it’s up to me to learn from His teachings, accept His blessings, and remind the world how much Jesus did out of love for us.

For the next fifty days, we will read stories of Jesus walking among those he loves after His Resurrection. Imagine the joy of his friends, seeing him again after he had been crucified, and yet…He Lives! Remember that when life isn’t going so well, because even today…He Lives!

Jesus, eternal life, grace
