JACKSONVILLE — The Army Corps of Engineers announces waterway obstruction and lock closure at the following locations:

Julian Keen, Jr. Lock & Dam
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is advising commercial and recreational vessels that the rim canal north of the Julian Keen, Jr. Lock at S-281 is currently obstructed by a floating buoy line to prevent floating vegetation from impeding navigation within the Okeechobee Waterway. The buoy line will remain in place while until the floating vegetation is cleared. Upon completion, the buoy line will be removed, and rim canal will reopen to navigation.

St. Lucie Lock
The St. Lucie Lock will have a series of 4-hour closures to support dive inspection of the lock chamber Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 8 and 9, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m.

Closures will be based on dive crews progress and safety needs. Vessels will be able to lock through between the hours of 7 to 7:30 a.m., 11:30 to noon, and 4 to 5 p.m.

Dive crew will also be doing dive inspections above the spillway. All vessels shall use extreme caution when entering or exiting the lock chamber.
