The Weekly Clothesline - My plants are not fragile

Posted

I found my mind wandering one morning. It was still dark out and I was waiting for a little sunlight to venture outside. I checked my e-mails and listened to the news. Nothing but doom and gloom. After a short amount of time, I’d had enough and the sun was finally visible. I walked outside and thought: Let’s take a meditation walk.

There before me were all those things that I take for granted. The sun comes up the same time everyday to shine on God’s creation. My plants and flowers are happy, and while I take time with them, it’s God that makes them grow, no matter what’s going on in the world. I pull weeds and spread mulch and water religiously, but it’s God who takes care of them. No matter what’s going on in the world, God’s got this. Even my orchids are under God’s care. It took several years for me to realize how fragile they aren’t. God takes care of them too, no matter what’s going on the world.

Are you sensing a theme here? If God so clothes the lilies of the field, how much more will he clothe you? Depend on your God for strength through any crisis you may encounter. Take a deep breath and… take a walk. Marvel at God’s creation. And remember who you are, and whose you are. Be blessed and know that God’s got this… and you!
