Sherman Building houses tax collector, property appraiser and driver's license offices

OKEECHOBEE  — June 10 was a historic event as the Okeechobee County Board of County Commission conducted a building dedication and ribbon cutting at the W.C. “Bill” Sherman Building, the new home of Okeechobee County’s Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, and Driver’s License offices. The building location is 409 N.W. Second Ave. in Okeechobee.

The ribbon cutting for the new building was held June 10. The official dedication was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members of the Sherman family and Shirey family were in attendance for this dedication, along with many citizens.
 
Okeechobee County is proud to have had Bill Sherman and Juanette Shirey, who were both outstanding people who served our county and forge our path towards the future we have today.
 
This building was completed on July 28, 2020, at a total cost of $4.14 million, and was paid for by the landfill trust funds dollars. The total square footage is 15,190 sq feet.
