Also, members of the Florida Junior High Rodeo Team contestants have qualified to compete for a National Championship at the 16th annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) being held June 20-26 in Iowa.

Qualifying for the OHS Rodeo Team are Keegan Pearce, Lacey Marie Nail, Clayton Culligan, Leyton Watford and Cole Clemons. And qualifying for the junior high team are Leo Boney, Kaelin Hegarty, Carson Davis, Brodey Clemons, Dally Esposito and Jayda Burkett.

There is an expected 1,200 NJHFR qualifiers and about 1,650 finalists at the NHSFR.

In true Okeechobee tradition, the team will hold a Cake Auction in an effort to raise funds for travel to the national competition. Supporters will have the chance to scoop up homemade cakes on behalf of the local youth who have qualified and attending the 2021 finals in June and July. This auction will take place June 8 at 1 p.m. at the Okeechobee Livestock Market.

Clayton Culligan and Lacey Nail have some experience in the national competition. Clayton qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo in the steer wrestling in 2019 and Lacey was the 2019 Florida High School Rodeo Association Rookie Cowgirl and Reserve All Around Cowgirl.
