FORT MYERS — The Moore Haven Lady Terriers varsity softball team made the trip down to Fort Myers on April 19 to take on the Southwest Florida Christian Academy Lady Kings.

The Lady Kings were coming into the game with an impressive 14-3 record, and had actually defeated Moore Haven last season 16-3. But this season, Moore Haven turned the tables on the Lady Kings.

The Lady Terriers beat Southwest Florida Christian 5-1, with Moore Haven’s Hayden Davis driving in two runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach for the Lady Kings.

JoEllen Erskin and Brooklyn Sergent each had an RBI, while Davis led the team with two. Erskin led the team with three hits against the Lady Kings. Preslynn Baker pitched all seven innings for Moore Haven, striking out 19 batters.

Before the victory over the Lady Kings, Moore Haven secured a dominating win over the Glades Day Lady Gators on April 18. The Lady Terriers defeated the Lady Gators 13-1, with Neska Blissett leading the team with three RBIs.

The Lady Terriers improve to 10-7 with the win over the Lady Kings. They’ll face Southwest Florida Christian again this season, this time at home. The Lady Terriers host the Lady Kings at 7 p.m. on April 26.
