FSW celebrates Career and Technical Education Month

Posted

FORT MYERS — Students and faculty at Florida SouthWestern State College will join others across the nation during the month of February to celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month. CTE Month is recognized to celebrate and highlight the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across Florida.

FSW is excited to collaborate with the Florida Department of Education to highlight the significance of CTE Month. This initiative underscores the profound impact of CTE courses on students’ futures. By working together with local and state leaders, businesses, and industry innovators, the college is dedicated to shaping pathways for students, equipping them with essential skills and cutting-edge technology.

As Florida’s population is projected to reach 26 million residents by 2030, the state faces the challenge of creating over 1 million new jobs. Governor DeSantis has set a goal for Florida to become the nation’s leader in workforce education, committing substantial resources to workforce education and training.

CTE programs offer hands-on learning experiences with real-world applications, leading to deeper understanding and retention among students. These programs provide valuable skills and certifications in critical industries, offering a quicker and more cost-effective path to successful careers compared to traditional higher education.
