Was there football around the lake last week? There were attempts to play some games. But Mother Nature had other plans. Some teams couldn’t play at all, while others played only a partial game.  Fingers crossed the weather plays nice for games this week.

  • Pahokee Blue Devils (3-0)

The Pahokee Blue Devils got to play at least some football last week. They only played a few minutes into the second half of their game against Palm Beach Lakes on Sept. 10 before it was called due to weather. But still, in that short time frame the Blue Devils jumped out to a 28-7 lead. Palm Beach Lakes concedded the game and now Pahokee is a perfect 3-0. Next the Blue Devils head into their bye week.

  • Glades Central Raiders (2-1)

The Glades Central Raiders were the only team around the lake to actually play a full game. How? Their game was scheduled a day earlier, on Sept. 9, dodging the bad weather on Sept. 10. The Raiders fell to a tough Atlantic squad 33-14. The Raiders will be on the road to this week to take on the 0-3 Santaluces Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17.

  • Clewiston Tigers (1-0)

After winning their first game in a blowout, the Tigers missed their second game due to covid protocols and then missed their third game due to LaBelle going though covid protocols. Will the long layover give the Tigers any rust this week? We’ll find out when they host the 2-1 Calvary Christian Academy Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 17.

  • Glades Day Gators (2-0)

The Glades Day Gators were another victim of bad weather, with their game against Jupiter Christian canceled before the game began. This week they’ll be on the road to take on the 2-1 King’s Academy Lions at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17.

  • Okeechobee Brahmans (0-2)

The Okeechobee Brahmans also didn’t even get to start their game against Frostproof on Sept. 10, with lightning and rain causing officials to call the game early. The two teams attempted to reschedule for the next day, Sept. 11. But a lack of officials for the contest ended with that game being canceled as well. The two teams have now rescheduled to Sept. 24. Next the Brahmans travel to take on the 0-3 Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks at 7 on Sept. 18.
