Discussion on new Pahokee city manager delayed

Posted

PAHOKEE -- Two special commission meetings took place on Wednesday to discuss city manager recruitment, interim city attorney and city attorney’s contract.

Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA) Senior Advisor Daniel Kelman recommended a list of five candidates to be interviewed for the position of city manager. Due to miscommunication, commissioners did not receive a complete list of resumes of the candidates until 9 a.m. July 21. A motion was made and passed with an unanimous vote to postpone the action of voting for candidates to be interviewed until all commissioners are able to review candidates resumes.

A special meeting will take place on Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. to solidify the candidates to be interviewed to fill the position of city manager.

Since they could not discuss the only item on the agenda, Mayor Keith Babb turned it into a  town hall meeting where citizens and remaining commissioners expressed their comments and concerns.
