John 16:33

Trouble in the Land

I sometimes joked with my wife as I turned on our television to the local and national news channels, that I was checking to see if we were at war yet. I don’t joke about that any more because things are progressively getting worse. The bible does teach us that we will have even more trouble in the world that we live in.

In the gospel of John, Jesus tells us that “In the world ye shall have tribulation”[1] There is tribulation in the world, and it is getting worse. However, in the same passage we find also, a word of comfort from our Lord. He says “but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”[2] In other words, there is no cause for those who are believers to fear the tribulation. On the other side of the troubles, there is an assurance that we will overcome this world because our Lord has overcome all tribulation, for all times. In Jesus, so have we!

I must encourage you who are still undecided about Jesus, to realize that everything you are seeing happen in our world has been foretold in the scriptures. Should you like to hear or know more on the subject, or see where this was spoken of, then find a local church and sit down with the pastor for an open-minded discussion on it.

Church, there is nothing to fear. Trust the Lord, follow his lead. The Bible states the words “fear not” 365 times. That’s enough for every day. We are overcomers in Christ Jesus. Please know that the Christian community of Okeechobee is praying just for you. God bless each of you.
