GLADES COUNTY — A Florida Highway Patrol press release stated at approximately 2:22 p.m. on Aug. 31 a 40-year-old Miami Gardens man operating a truck (vehicle 1) and a 53-year-old Lake Placid man was operating a truck (vehicle 2) on U.S. 27/S.R. 25.
Vehicle 1 and vehicle 2 were southbound on U.S. 27/S.R. 25. Vehicle 1 and towed trailer were ahead of vheicle 2. Vehicle 1 and trailer were traveling partially in the outside lane and grassy shoulder of U.S. 27.
The front of vehicle 2 collided with the left rear of vehicle 1’s towed trailer in the outside lane of U.S. 27.
Upon impact with vehicle 1’s trailer, the driver of vehicle 2 lost control of his vehicle causing vehicle 2 to overturn to the left. Vehicle 2 came to rest overturned in the outside lane.
The driver of vehicle 1 brought the vehicle and trailer to a controlled stop on the southbound grassy shoulder (south of the area of collision).
It was reported the driver of vehicle 2 was pronounced deceased on scene by Glades County EMS.
