The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Division of Law Enforcement Weekly Report from March 15 - 21 includes incidents in the Lake Okeechobee area. This report represents some events the FWC handled over specified weeks; however, it does not include all actions taken by the Division of Law Enforcement.

Glades County

• Officers Ciprich and Dial were working an area where bait was located at the beginning of spring turkey season. The area had black sunflower seeds spread across the ground with two ground blinds located within 100 yards of the seed. The officers observed two subjects turkey hunting from one of the ground blinds. The officers contacted the subjects and found one of them has been previously charged with hunting wild turkeys over bait. The subject was issued a notice to appear for the violations.

Hendry County

• Lieutenant Kleis was on night patrol when he observed a vehicle parked near a sugar cane field on private property. The lieutenant then observed a subject walking in the sugar cane displaying a spotlight and holding a long gun. He located two subjects who said they were rabbit hunting and discovered they did not have permission to be on the property. The landowner stated he wanted to press charges for trespassing. Both subjects were arrested and booked into the Hendry County Jail. Charges include trespass while armed with a firearm, attempting to take game with an artificial light and hunting after legal shooting hours.
